Rugged, great-looking, and high-utility, without breaking the bank.
I purchased a the 13.5" model to replace a 12.5" AP enhanced m-lok and this handguard saved about 2 ounces even with the extra inch. It's about twice the thickness of the aluminum and resists any attempt to squeeze it- feels similar to polymer or finished wood as far as temperature and texture goes, just way stronger. M-lok placement is great, I like the option to mount at 45°. The texturing underneath reminds me of the corn-cob type shotgun pumps. If I have one complaint it'd be some pre-finish chipping on where the slots were milled, but CF is a hard, layered material so it's bound to happen- doesn't affect fuction or looks. Over-all I'm very happy with my purchase and will happily buy another.
Recently sold the Aero aluminum handguard off my M4E1 Enhanced upper and replaced it with this. The handguard is light and sturdy. The heat mitigation is superb; I don’t need to wear gloves when I’m out in desert. I also like the texturing on the bottom of the handguard; I had planned on using an AFG, but found I just didn’t need it with this handguard. It is a bit girthy, which is actually a plus for me (large hands), but it might turn off some buyers. One thing that might potentially cause issues of the fully round interior and exterior of the handguard. MLOK accessories only have a thin centerline contact point on the exterior of the rail, and on the inside the MLOK nut only contacts the handguard at the outer tips. Attached accessories currently seem to be firmly attached, but it might take some torture testing to instill confidence. I am only attaching an MLOK flashlight mount and a QD sling cup for now.
The barrel nut timed up nicely to the receiver. The CF handguard fit the barrel nut without any issues.. Very securely mounted with the six screws. Feels so light compared to the aluminum one installed previously. And grip texturing adds additional grip. Good cost saving too!
